the journey (un)officially starts...

im back in changi airport waiting for my connecting flight going to penang. im flying a week ahead of the schedule due to business matters. since im not going back to manila before the actual kk adventure, i call this day as the (un)official start of the trip. we did a few changes on the schedule, but bottomline is that everything's still a go and we're all set.

i packed 2 sets of bags, 1 for business and 1 for the trekking. oh man! my trekking bag weighed-in at 11 kilos. i need to do some re-assessment. there's no room left for the food. it's just pure personal and essential items (clothing). tsk tsk tsk! i told you im not a light packer!

extra: hi moto! i know you're the only one in the office right now. im still in transit. HL is on holiday. im sure you are sleepy and need some coffee. hope this wakes you up. talk to you soon!

steamboat

one of the best meals i had in penang was the one in steamboat. not only was the food great, but the whole process of the dining experience was cool! it was just a simple place - not even airconditioned and nothing fancy about it, but the fun of dumping all sorts of fresh and frozen seafood and veggies into the boiling soup (oh and don't forget the fish 'balls' too), the excitement of frying the mushrooms and meat slices under the fatty margarine -- awww, just imagine the 'smell' and the 'smile' on our faces! we're on a FEAST! i think we ate for 2 hours.

i can't wait to go back to steamboat!
yang, we'll eat for you ;)

here are some photos from that night:

... days to go before flying to KK.

everything's almost set. detour task was completed. there may be roadblocks along the way, but we're ready to face 'em.

now we gotta start packing... we decided we're not gonna hire a porter. it's the challenge and the thrill of it. i guess nothing beats the feeling of fulfillment, knowing we carried all the load upon our backs and reach the summit. we'll see how it goes ... teamwork will still play a role here.

roadblock task is to 'pack lite'

detour

The idea for the KK trip was inspired by the fact that we didn’t make it to the cut of the Amazing Race Asia. AXN-Asia missed out big time by not choosing us. Tsk tsk…

Now, we’re facing a real-life DETOUR.

The choices:
(1) MOVE IT
(2) KEEP IT

In MOVE IT – the team must delay their trip to a later time to give way to some urgent last-minute business needs.

Choosing this task may provide a lot of career and business opportunities, but delaying the trip poses a lot of hassle and cost.

In KEEP IT – the team must go on with everything as planned.

Choosing this task may look easy at first, but discussions and negotiations need to be done before they could accomplish this.

We’re leaning towards KEEP IT.

Any advice from our followers? … leave a comment 

kodak moment*

a precious moment like this is priceless.

at that very second, all 3 of us seemed possessed:

1) what's up with howlake? lemme guess -- takin' out some meat stuck in between his teeth?
2) what's up with jason? what a cannibal face!

THAT MEAT IS DEADLY!!!

and...

3) ~ WHAT'S UP WITH YANG and the PLASTIC???

HILARIOUS!!!

KS, if you're reading this entry ... thanks for looking normal -- at least we know there's still hope in this world :)

*papparazzi: achiet -- thanks for this wonderful snapshot!

Let's trek TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK!

Hundreds of millions of people around the world will see Intel’s "Multiply" ad campaign by New Year’s Eve. At New York City’s most famous intersection, Times Square, passers-by are surrounded by 15 LED Intel TV billboards, and six static billboards—some of them seven stories high.

By New Year’s Eve, Intel's 31-day campaign will have been broadcast on TVs worldwide.

Times Square Baby Yea!!!

We may have not reached the summit of Mount Kinabalu yet, but we've already conquered a HUGE electronic BILLBOARD in TIMES SQUARE NEW YORK! And I believe we made it in time for New York's New Year's Countdown.

Here's how COOL we looked like on those BILLBOARDS.

This is soooo cool! :P Just imagine how many people have their heads held high (with necks aching) looking at our image. HAHAHA!

This isn't any hoax -- visit www.multiplyyourself.com and enter the code 4086678055 in "find your photo" section.

Happy New Year!

most celebrate the coming of 2007 today. yang refers to this one as the 1/1 new year. hehe. it took me 5 seconds to realize what he meant when he typed it in one of our chats. and that's ofcourse, because he (+ HL + BILLION others) has another celebration called the Chinese new year (we'll just have to post another welcome for the year of the pig in a few more weeks).

so for now ... let's celebrate first and welcome the happy 1/1 2007 New Year!!!
